These orange giant plumose anemone tentacles (Metridium farcimen) seem very delicate, but are perfect for collecting food from the surrounding water.  Plumose anemones are stationary animals that prefer to be located in a mild current, and can often be found in large groups.  Giant plumose anemones can reach a height of 39 inches (1 m) tall, with their supporting column being around 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.  These anemones have a white or orange colour variation, with a range from northern Alaska to northern Mexico.
