The Ogden Point Breakwater in Victoria is a fantastic dive site, and where I saw this large red tentacled fish eating anemone (Urticina piscivora). This anemone has a solid deep red coloured column, and can have either white or red tentacles. Juvenile painted greenlings and candy striped shrimps can be spotted hiding out among the tentacles and surprisingly without being harmed. Other species of fish and shrimps are not so lucky. The fish eating anemone can grow to 12 inches (30 cm) tall, with a column diameter that can reach 12 inches (30 cm). This anemone has a range from southern Alaska to southern California.
