Project Description

A male scalyhead sculpin (Artedius harringtoni) has found protection inside the shell plate remains of a giant acorn barnacle at Maple Bay.  I’d like to thank Jeff Marliave for offering his help in the identification of this fish.  The scalyhead sculpin can be seen in a wide variety of colours.  This sculpin can grow to 4 inches (10.2 cm) in length, and has a range from northern Alaska to southern California.
