Project Description

The Pacific red octopus beak (Octopus rubescens) is located on the underside of the octopus where all eight legs come together.  This beak is very strong and can deliver a painful bite to a diver if the octopus feels threatened.  The Pacific red octopus can have an arm span reaching up to 20 inches (50 cm) and weigh in at around a pound (0.4 kg), with a range from central Alaska to northern Mexico.
