Project Description

A small mosshead warbonnet (Chirolophis nugator) was a great find on a dive as this fish is elusive and often hides in crevices on a rocky reef.  The colour is highly variable but a good indicator for identification is the “flattop haircut” of this species.  The mosshead warbonnet can grow to 6 inches (15 cm) in length, with a range from northern Alaska to southern California.
