Project Description

The hairy tunicate (Boltenia villosa) has a very interesting form with its spiky tunicate body resting atop a long stalk.  The colour can vary from a pale tan to vibrant red.  These tunicates are usually found covered in silt when in low current areas like Saanich Inlet, a place I often go diving close to home.  The hairy tunicate can grow to 4 inches (10 cm) tall, and has a range from southern Alaska to southern California.
