Project Description

The broadbase tunicate (Cnemidocarpa finmarkiensis) has siphon openings that appear square-shaped when closing, and a smooth red surface.  These tunicates can be found clustered in groups or on their own.   Broadbase tunicates are filter feeding animals that can grow to 2 inches (5 cm) across, with a range that includes Japan, as well as southern Alaska to central California.
