Project Description

A bell-headed tailed jelly section (Praya dubia) was noticed floating in murky water.  This giant siphonophore lives in the deep sea and can reach lengths of 160 feet (50 m).  Tail sections like this one, have been known to detach and drift.  The pelagic bell-headed tailed jelly has been found from central British Columbia to Mexico, and also has been discovered off of many coastlines around the world.
