I’ve always been fascinated by nudibranchs as these shell-less snails appear on local stony reefs in a wide variety of colours and forms.  These slow moving animals are great subjects for macro photography.  The word nudibranch comes from the Latin word nudus “naked” and the Greek word brankhia “gills”, referring to the exposed gills on their backs.  These soft bodied marine animals shed their shells after the larval stage.
