This leopard dorid looked amazing perched high up on a rock, and covered with large bold spots contrasting its white body colour. There is great variation in these dark markings regarding size and shape. Some markings may be large open rings of colour, while other markings are filled and look like solid spots. Some leopard dorids may only be covered with small specks, and body colour may vary from white to tan. The leopard dorid (Diaulula sandiegensis) grows to 5 inches (12.5 cm) long, with a range that includes the Sea of Japan, and northern Alaska to northern Mexico.
